Welcome to the Nature Explorer’s room at Evolution Early Learning, where our philosophy of fostering socially responsible, active, and respectful little contributors to the world comes alive. In this special space for three to five-year-old learners, Miss Chloe and Miss Paige guide a day full of engaging activities stemming from the centre's holistic approach to early childhood education.
Each day begins with a respectful start, including an Acknowledgement of Country, which reflects our commitment to cultural awareness and embedding respect for the land's traditional custodians. From here, a healthy morning tea is provided, setting the children up for a day rich in exploration and discovery.
Delving deeper into our curriculum, the midday routine incorporates numeracy and literacy activities, focusing on counting and phonics, to challenge and foster growth in these formative years. To aid in developing essential fine motor skills, the children participate in focused activities such as painting and Play-Doh sculpting, which are both favourites among our nature explorers. This not only nurtures their small muscle development but also increases their creativity.
Lunchtime offers a communal space for nourishment and collaboration, where children help clean up, reflecting our communal responsibility and teamwork philosophy. Rest time then follows, providing a peaceful interlude for reflection and recharging.
Afternoons bring a blend of structured and spontaneous learning opportunities. On any given day, children may participate in show and tell, enhancing their communication skills, or engage in music lessons that tap into their innate sense of rhythm and melody. Children may also be assigned yoga lessons introducing mindfulness and physical activity or Japanese language lessons to help expand their cultural horizons.
As the day winds down, we gather for a daily summary and storytelling, reflecting and reinforcing the day’s activities. This is followed by outside playtime, which allows for physical exercise and interpersonal development in the natural world – one of the keystones of our commitment to connecting children with the environment.
The day closes with an afternoon tea, another moment to nourish our bodies. Miss Chloe and Miss Paige then help the children gather their belongings and accomplishments, ready to share them with their families.
